About SafeHomeFacts
SafeHomeFacts gives homeowners, buyers and renters a calm, plain-language view of what home insurance has cost where they live, what flood insurance runs, and which natural hazards matter most locally.
What you’ll find
- A page for every state, every county and thousands of ZIP codes.
- Typical homeowners premiums, nonrenewal and claim rates from the U.S. Treasury.
- Flood insurance costs from FEMA’s National Flood Insurance Program.
- Hazard ratings for 18 natural hazards from the FEMA National Risk Index.
All numbers come from public U.S. government data. See Methodology & sources for the details and limits.
What we don’t do
We don’t sell insurance, give quotes or recommend insurers, and no insurer pays to appear here. The numbers are historical averages. Your own premium depends on your home, your coverage choices and your insurer, so it’s worth comparing quotes at renewal.
Independence
SafeHomeFacts is independent and isn’t affiliated with or endorsed by the U.S. Treasury, FEMA or any insurance company.
Who runs it
